So WoW has touched RL for me twice in the past couple weeks, both in rather amusing ways. Thought I would share them with you guys.
First one : So a few days ago I went to a concert in Detroit, and after the concert, my friends and I (all of whom play WoW) took the Detroit People Mover (aka, just a monorail).
So these two guys walk in to the cart we are sitting in, we did not pay much attn. I took another glance at the two shortly after the monorail started moving. One was wearing a "world of warcraft" T-shirt, and the other was wearing a "For the Horde" T-shirt. Oh man..a monorail cart full of addicts, this should be fun right? So I begin looking at the one guys face in an attempt to make eye contact. Finally when our eyes meet, he looks at me, then looks at his friend, and the both look at the ground and move closer to each other. I ignored their odd behaviour and simply said "Hey, what server?" with a smirk on my face, hoping to make friendly conversation.
Before I know it, my friends start going NUTS on the guy "omg we all play too" "man whats your characters name and level?" etc.. Neither of them responded, and upon reaching the next station, they both ran (thats right, ran) out of the cart, with out saying a word. Once out of the cart, they just stood there and watched the monorail move away, probably waiting for the next one lol.
I really never thought I could strike such fear into someone trying to be friendly lol
The second story was also, very dumb mind you, but amusing to me.
A friend of mine met a new girl and shortly after became bf/gf. COOL. So she invites us all over one day to her place to chill. She also invited a few of her other friends who we didnt know. A couple of the guys (her friends) were chatting amongst themselves when my friend must have overheard them and said
"Wait..guys..are you talking about WoW?!" and they responded saying yes they did.
Boy were we all excited lol So we start talking about it a bit, and then the big question came up. "What faction you play?" . My friends and I play horde..die hards...will never touch alliance, unless we are slicing them in half w/ our swords :P (Yeah, I went there alliance..whats up?). So anyway, my one friend irl, has sort of a temper, and I think its safe to say that my other friends GF's (the one whose house we were at) friend also had one. At first, the fun cheap shots were taken at eachother "eww alliance? Whats wrong with you guys?" or "horde...wtf I hate you guys so much". So the debate grew. Once i saw peoples tempers rising over the debate of horde/alliance, I kinda back out of the convo, as hell, its just a game. End of the day, if I saw an RL Alliance player I would treat them as I would anyone else, kind of sad not to imo. Eventually, the GF's friend got pissed to the point where he's like "Man shut the @#%^ up before I @#%^ing pound your ass right here!" (<---this stemmed from horde > Alliance for PvP). An RL fight...over WoW...over what side you picked...Can you say sad? lol
Yeah those are my stories...odd ones...but I thought rather amusing to share lol
